Department of English

To ensure professional success and personal growth in today’s interconnected and rapidly changing world, the department of English organised a guest lecture on ‘Soft Skills for Success’ on 14 th June 2024. The resource person was Dr. Shyla Abraham from the Department of Languages, a certified soft skill expert. Through a power point presentation, she gave insightful & elaborate inputs on soft skills that are vital for professional success as they enhance communication, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, customer service, conflict resolution, and time management. In addition, the department of English organized a panache of activities like group discussions, Impromptu, role play, enacting dramas etc keeping in tune with the syllabus offered by the Bengaluru North University under the National Education Policy.

  • Department of Business Administration

    In collaboration with IQAC and Centum Foundation an “Employability Skills Enhancement Training Programme” was conducted for the Final Year students of BBA Department commencing on December 14 th 2023. Ms. Amira was the resource speaker. The training program was organized with the objective of training the students on soft skills which include Problem solving skills, Business Communication, Leadership skills and Business Etiquettes. The entire program consisted of 50 hours. The sessions were well-structured and well executed through PowerPoint presentations consisting of various images, charts and videos. They also introduced us to the Centum Foundation app which provides us with many modules and assessments which include Customer Relationship Management, People Management, Finance Management and many more. The students can access reading material, audio, video and many surveys. On completion of every module and taking up on line tests the students are given certificates.
  • Department of Computer Applications

    A one day seminar was organised on 18 June 2024 . The speaker for the day was >Mr. Karthik a software engineer as well as a trainer from Alpatech Academy. He has a total of 18 years of experience in the IT industry and also trains students and professionals on the latest software technologies. The seminar focussed on various topics such as

    • •Cloud computing
    • •Cyber Security.
    The seminar explained about the scope, the areas and fields of application of the above-mentioned topics which is a current trend in the industry. The students were also given a brief idea about the topics which will be covered in each area while training and the future of learning such specializations. They were highlighted about the job fields after the completion of these courses. On the whole the students were enriched with the key features of taking these courses and the future of adopting these courses in their career. .
  • Department of Kannada

    The Department of Kannada conducted a Guest Lecture on 16 th August 2023 on the topic “Kannada Bhashe Mattu Samvahana Jagattu”. The resource person for the day was Dr.S. Manonmani from Bishop Cotton’s Women Christian College.
  • Department of Economics

    The department of Economics organised a guest lecture on the topic ‘Indirect Tax‘ on 20th June 2024. The resource person for the day was Mrs. Zeena Lobo, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, St. Aloysius Degree College. The resource speaker spoke elaborately on indirect tax citing suitable examples. It was a very informative session that benefitted the students.
  • Department of Psychology

    The department of Psychology organised a guest lecture on E-HRM and I-HRM for all BA students on 21 June 2024. Prof. Nikath Seema, Assistant professor Kristu Jayanthi college was the resource speaker. The resource speaker elaborated on E-HRM and I- HRM and the differences between them by citing suitable examples. It was a very informative session that benefitted the students
  • Department of Journalism

    For the academic year 2023-2024 Deccan herald conducted 2 workshops on topics such as 'Mental toughness' and 'Responsible usage of social media' for BA, Bsc, BBA, B.Com and BCA department students. Mrs. Heta Sheth an IGCSE coordinator and Head of school was invited to deliver lecture on the topics mentioned.
  • Department of Hindi

    On June 20, 2024, the Hindi department organized a guest lecture on the genres of drama in Hindi literature. The chief guest was Dr. Purnima Devi, who discussed various types of plays, particularly about Madhavi, Agni Shikha, and the Magic Carpet. She shared important information related to the exams with the students and also answered questions posed by the students at the end.
  • Department of Chemistry

    The Department of Chemistry conducted a guest lecture titled ‘Aromatic Nucleophilic Substitution Reactions’ on June 21 st 2024. The lecture was delivered by Miss. Saliha Saman G, a subject matter expert working at Vaidik Edilservice Pvt Ltd in Noida. She is also an alumna of Goodwill Christian College for Women.
  • Department of Commerce

    A one-day workshop was organised by the Department of Commerce and the college Placement Cell on 30 May 2024. This was a personality development and confidence building workshop conducted by Team Right Side Story in collaboration with Whisper and Gillette India Ltd. The resource person was Ms. Tanya K. and co-ordinator Mr. Kshitij Tripathi. It was attended by 300 students from commerce and other streams. The main objective was to familiarize students with the emerging ideas and trends on BYOS-Be Your Self. The session enhanced the confidence of students and sharpened their communication and inter personal skills. It was an activity-based session to enrich academic language, effective time management and self-evaluation to achieve personal and professional goals. E- Certificates were given to the participants.
